REPORT: Great Olympics with a 1-0 win over Inter Allies

Great Olympics defeated their city rivals, Inter Allies by narrow 1-0 win at the Accra Sports Stadium to secure their second win of the season.

It was a game of stragglers as both are pegged with 4 points each on the league table after 5 games, so a win was a must for all but the Olympics were hungrier for the results than their opponents.

Inter Allies did not start the game well and had a major setup in just 18 minutes of action when their goalkeeper George Apronti had to be taken off due to injury and was replaced by Augustus Ofori Nyarko.

Philip Nii Sackey wasted little time to test Ofori Nyarko in post for Allies as their pressure paid off eventually with the first goal of the game.

Inter Allies almost fetched the leveller when Kingsley Braye was played through, but fluffed his strike – he later had a wonderful strike but was denied by the woodwork.

First half ended with the Dade Boys lead the Eleven Is To One boys who are also in desperate need of a win.

Back from recess, it was Allies that did all the running as they created mutilples of chances but were unable to break the defense of Olympics with Joshua Opoku in post for Great Olympics constantly denying Allies.

The last few minutes of the game saw Allies coming close to scoring but they lacked the composure up front to get the equalizer as the whistle went to end proceedings at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Great Olympics are beginning to enjoy their stay in the premier league as they are unbeaten in their last three games – wins at home to karela and Inter Allies and a draw on the road to Elmina Sharks.
