WEEK 4 PREVIEW: KOTOKO & FAISAL LOOK TO KEEP UNBEATEN RUN

KUMASI ASANTE KOTOKO vs TECHIMAN XI WONDERS

League leaders Kumasi Asante Kotoko will look to keep their unbeaten run in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season when they host Techiman Eleven Wonders. The record Ghana Premier league champions have successfully jumped every hurdle thus far this far this seasons and hope to make it 4 out 4 when Eleven Wonders play as guest at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Techiman XI Wonders are yet to register a win and score a goal this season and will hope to have that bit of good fortune when they play against Coach Prosper Narteh’s side on Saturday under the floodlights at 6pm.

BEREKUM CHELSEA vs KING FAISAL BABES

Berekum Chelsea and King Faisal will kick off proceedings for match week 4 when the two sides meet at the Berekum Golden City Park. The Blues have lost two and drawn one of their opening three league fixtures and will be aiming for their first win and inflict a first defeat of the season on King Faisal Babes. Meanwhile free-scoring King Faisal will look to keep the pressure on city rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko by avoiding a difficult and keeping their 100% record intact.

ASHANTIGOLD vs HEARTS OF OAK

Defending league champions, Accra Hearts Of Oak go into this weekends games searching for their first win to kick off the defence of their title. The Rainbow blow play as guest to Obuasi Ashantigold at the Len Clay Sports Stadium. Coach  Samuel Boadu and his charges will seek to not just register their first win of the season but their first victory over the Miners at the Len Clay Sports stadium since 2017.  Ashantigold who parted ways with head coach Ernest Thompson Quartey earlier this week have won, drawn and lost each of their opening games of the 2021/22 season.

ADUANA STARS vs RTU

Two times Ghana Premier League champions, Aduana Stars will aim to put a break on earlier pacesetters, Real Tamale United (RTU) when the latter visits the Nana Agyeman Badu II Sports Stadium in Dormaa Ahenkro. The Ogya boys picked up a point off Hearts Of Oak in their last outing and will hope it’s a booster to avoid another defeat at home (haven lost 1-3 at home to King Faisal Babes in match week 2). Aduana Stars must try and stop this season’s top goal scorer David Abagna from adding to his tally of five goals if they are to register their first win of the season. The game on Saturday will be the first meeting between the two sides in the Ghana Premier League.

ACCRA CITY LIONS vs BECHEM UNITED

Newly promoted Accra City Lions have been given a tough start to life in the top division of the Ghana football. City Lions are without a win in their last two games after starting the season with an impressive display at home with a one all drawn game against Elmina Sharks. Playing against a Bechem United side who will be in a good mood haven gotten one over boogey side, Elmina Sharks the task doesn’t get any easier for the newbies.

ACCRA GREAT OLYMPICS vs DREAMS FC

Accra Great Olympics host Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday at 3pm kick off. The Dade lads have won two and drawn one of their opening games so far and will hope to avoid a defeat at home and seek to win knowing favourable results in other games might seem them top of the league log. Maxwell Abbey Quaye has scored 4 goals and sitting in second place on the goal scoring chart (a goal behind RTU, David Abagna) will aim to add to his tally to help Oly continue their unbeaten run to the season. Dreams FC’s record against the 1970 and 1974 Ghana Premier League champions reads 0-2 on aggregate and the Dawu based side will be aiming for a better result this time and hopefully inflict on Coach Annor Walker and his team their first defeat of the season.

ELMINA SHARKS vs BIBIANI GOLD STARS

Elmina Sharks host premier league debutants Bibiani Gold Stars at the Nduom Sports Stadium in a must win fixture. Sharks currently occupy the 18th position on the league log without a win and just a point to their name. The visitors who are playing top flight football for this first time have started very well to their debut season amassing 4 points from a possible nine. A 54th minute Isaac Oppong goal for Asante Kotoko denied Gold Stars registering their second win of the season at home. Sharks should be wary of this weekends opponent who picked up a point off Medeama SC in match week at the Tarkwa Aboso stadium.

MEDEAMA SC vs KARELA FC

Medeama SC start life without coach Ignatius Fosu who they parted ways with this week after a winless run in the ongoing season. Just three games into the season and the Mauve and Yellow have accumulated two points and playing a regional derby against Karela FC anything but a win will turn the heat from their aggrieved fans on the top hierarchy of the club. Medeama SC has beaten Karela in the previous two games at home. Karela FC have stated the season with a win and two drawn games as they go into this weekends derby favourite side to win.

WAFA vs LEGON CITIES

Bottom placed WAFA host 7th placed Legon Cities in Anita win game for coach Hamdan Zaragoza and his charges. The Sogakope home fortress seems to have lost its mojo and if the sides away record in the league is anything to go by is not a good sign. WAFA last season registered a 1-0 victory over Legon Cities and will seek to get a similar result of not more to get their season underway. Cities lost narrowly at home to high flying Great Olympics and will aim to get back on track against a WAFA side that is struggling at the moment both at home and away this season.
