Matchday 3 Preview

The Ghana Premier League enters its third matchday, with thrilling encounters awaiting fans across six league centres.

Here's a preview of the upcoming matches:

Vision FC vs. Legon Cities (Saturday, 3:00 PM):  Vision FC seeks to build on their impressive debut against Berekum Chelsea and their win 2-0 win over Accra Lions when they host Legon Cities at the Nii Adjei Kraku Sports Complex in the harbour City of Tema. Legon Cities are winless in their opening two games of the season having lost to GoldStars and Medeama. The Royals have won only once in their last five league games. Coach Paa Kwesi will need to find answers to their poor away form having won just two games in their previous 18 away games.

GoldStars vs. Holy Stars (Saturday, 3:00 PM):  GoldStars welcomes Holy Stars to Dun's Park in Bibiani in the first Western Derby for the newly promoted Holy Stars. The debutants are looking to maintain their unbeaten run. Holy Stars, fresh from their stunning win over Hearts of Oak and a deserving draw against Dreams FC seeks another upset in Bibiani. In 15 games at home, the Miners have lost just two games and will hope to continue that impressive home run.

Karela United vs. Accra Lions (Sunday, 3:00 PM): At the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre in Nalerigu, Karela United, still searching for their first win, hosts Accra Lions. The Northerns are winless in their last three games against the Lions and have won only once in their last six meeting with the Accra-based side. Both teams will be aiming for their first league win of the season.

Asante Kotoko vs. Young Apostles (Sunday, 3:00 PM): Asante Kotoko welcomes newly side Young Apostles at their adopted home grounds at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi following the temporary closure of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The porcupine warriors will be the favourite to pick up maximum points in this tricky tie to maintain their unbeaten run, though this will be their second game of the season following the reschedule of their week two game against Nsoatreman. Young Apostles will be seeking to cause an upset against the Porcupine Warriors but that will be a huge task to accomplish.

Aduana FC vs. Nations FC (Sunday, 3:00 PM):  Aduana FC welcomes Nations FC to the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa hoping to return to winning ways having failed to win their last five premier league games. The Dormaa-based club are also winless in their last two home games and will want to secure their first win of the season when Nations come to town. Nations are also on a poor run having drawn three and lost three of their last six league games.

Hearts of Oak vs. Bechem United (Sunday, 6:00 PM): Hearts of Oak, reeling from consecutive losses, faces the hunters Bechem United at the University of Ghana stadium in Legon, a venue the Phobians have adopted following the closure of the Accra Sports Stadium. The Phobians will be hoping a change in venue means a change in form following their winless start to the season. Bechem United seeks to exploit Hearts' vulnerabilities and pressure. The Hunters have won 5 in 19 games against the Phobians, losing 11 and drawing 3. The Phobians won 3-2 the last time they met, a win that aided their survival.

Dreams FC vs. Heart of Lions (Monday, 3:00 PM):  Dreams FC hosts Heart of Lions at the Nii Adjei Kraku Sports Complex in the harbour City of Tema, aiming to bounce back from their two consecutive drawn games. Heart of Lions seeks to build on their impressive win over Hearts of Oak in Kpando and cement their position in the top when they take on the Still Believe lads. Lions have won once in their last 3 games against Dreams.
